PURRFECTLY CENTERED - Lyra Workshop with Cat

WHAT: In this 1.5hr workshop we’ll explore spins! Everything from how to spin underneath yourself without a swing or an orbit, tools and practices for alleviating dizziness and tips for nausea and spin related wonkiness! We’ll play with span set spins, side mounts, flares, split spins, etc at multiple heights and explore different ways of entering the hoop! This workshop will help you level up and look more professional with tight, centered spins!

PREREQUISITES: Intermediate to Advanced Aerialist.

New York Cat (they/them) is a multidisciplinary performer, aerialist, and activist whose eclectic dance style blends ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, West African, vogue, tribal, belly dance and more. Performing in NYC since age 15, they trained with leading choreographers including Mia Michaels, Dan Karaty, and Debbie Allen, and earned their BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Cat has appeared on Broad City, High Maintenance, Law & Order, and numerous independent films. A certified trainer formerly with Aerospace NYC and 305 Fitness, they teach flexibility, mobility, and injury prevention privately.

As a nightlife and festival performer, Cat has been a resident artist at House of Yes, Henrietta Hudson, and The Newsroom, and has graced stages from Lincoln Center to Burning Man. A skilled aerialist specializing in lyra, they also perform on moon, cube, straps, on stilts and with fire.

A proud vegan, queer, and trans artist-activist, Cat channels their art toward liberation and justice for LGBTQ+, AFAB, BIPOC, and environmental causes.
