Injury Prevention for Aerialists with Erin Hicks, PT, DPT

WHAT: This 3 week 90 min workshop series will teach students the fundamentals of injury prevention. Topics covered will include: basic anatomy, body awareness, and warm-up/cooldown drills to add to your practice. Each week will focus on a different body region. Each class will include a mixture of lecture, pre-hab exercises, and hands-on group activities such as analyzing your classmates' hanging form and core control. Come prepared to move, take notes, and ask questions! Students can choose to sign up for individual weeks or join all 3 weeks for a discount. 

WHO: Erin Hicks, PT, DPT has been training/performing aerial circus since 2016. She has completed teacher trainings with Born to Fly, CircSci, and CircusDoc. Her primary apparatus is aerial silks, although she also dabbles in other vertical apparatuses including straps, sling, and rope. Erin enjoys sharing her love for big drops, dynamic skills, and complex brain-teaser/fabric theory sequences with her students. As a physical therapist, she also incorporates biomechanics and injury prevention concepts into every class.

WHEN: Saturdays 4:45-6:15 p.m.

  • Week 1 September 13th - Shoulder

  • Week 2 September 27th - Hamstring/Hip/Low Back
