About Us

Gravity opened in 2017 with the goal of creating a safe and fun space where we can bring the joy of aerial arts to everyone that walks through our doors. At Gravity Aerial Arts we work hard to cultivate an environment where everyone feels welcome!   We believe that the transfer of knowledge is best done by creating a community environment to learn and teach in.

Our instructors are always learning new aerial skills, and the studio hosts workshops with guest instructors from across the world!  We work with the Denver circus community and the community at large to bring in new perspectives and skills to share with our students.

Performance Opportunities

Learning aerial circus arts is a fun way to exercise, express oneself, and get up on stage!   We strive to provide students with lots of performance opportunities.  We produce bi-annual student recitals for all skill levels of our adult students and more advanced youth and teen students. Our beginning to intermediate youth and teen students get to perform in smaller in-house student showcases.  Pre-pandemic we also put on one big storyline production a year that was open to all students through an audition process. We hope to resume these productions in 2023! We also seek out other community performance opportunities for our students. Gravity instructors and advanced students are available to hire for events.

Safety

Safety is our primary concern when we are teaching new skills, and we always provide a safe progression into new and more challenging ones.  Aerial dance inherently involves a level of risk, but we work to make sure our classes are as safe as possible.  Our instructors use carefully considered teaching and spotting techniques.  Classes begin with a good warm-up to help avoid pulling/tearing muscles.  The studio is outfitted with skill cushions (mats) and the studio and instructors are insured! Classes are set up to typically have a 2 student to 1 apparatus ratio. This allows the instructor to watch those that are in the air better, gives the students breaks and allows them to learn from watching their classmates.
